The healing process of a hair transplant is in most cases painless and smooth.
However, you are required to follow the instructions and advice we give you. This is to ensure the best possible outcome and minimise any risks.

72 hours after the procedure, you should start rinsing your hair gently. 4 days after your operation, you can start washing your hair with a mild shampoo. Be careful when drying your head. Read more about how to wash the transplant area here.
After 5 days it’s fine to start using a hat and cap as long as it’s not tight and should preferably only be worn for short periods of time.
Pools, jacuzzis and public swimming pools should be avoided for the first 4 weeks. This is because there is a lot of bacteria, chlorine and detergents in these places. Swimming in the sea should also be avoided 4 weeks after the procedure.
Wait 14 days before exercising and performing activities that cause a significant increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Also avoid lifting heavy objects. Gentle walks are fine and recommended to keep the blood circulating.
Alcohol should be avoided for up to 48 hours after the procedure.
After 14 days, the hair follicles will be firm enough for you to start using styling products on your hair.
Smoking has a major impact on the healing process and therefore we encourage you to abstain from tobacco and nicotine for at least one week after the hair transplant. For the first 48 hours, you should abstain completely from tobacco.
Snuff does not have as great an impact on the body’s ability to heal as smoking does. However, we still recommend that snuff users refrain for at least 48 hours after the procedure.
Strong sunlight should be avoided for 6 months after the procedure.
You can start sunbathing as early as two weeks after the procedure if you make sure to cover the area with a cap or headscarf. After 6 months you can sunbathe as usual.
The reason why you should wait so long is because the UV rays can inhibit the healing process.
After 4 weeks, the transplanted hair can be trimmed with plastic cover but not shorter than 3 mm. The transplanted area must absolutely not be shaved with a razor blade against the transplanted area for the first 6 months. The rest of the hair and the donation area can be cut however you like. You can start dyeing the newly transplanted hair 4 weeks after the procedure.
The most critical time is the first 2-3 days when the area is at its most sensitive. The first week you should be extra careful.
After 2 weeks it is okay to start exercising but you should still be a little careful with the sun and vigilant so that the transplanted hair is not scratched.
After 3 weeks, you can generally do most everyday things, but avoid things like head butting a football or wearing tight headgear. If you have any questions about your aftercare, please feel free to contact us.
It is not recommended to wear a hat or cap until a week after the operation as there is a risk of scraping the hair follicles.
After a week, you can wear a hat or cap if it is not too tight. Remember that the cap or hat must not lie exactly on the transplanted area for at least two weeks. Read more about aftercare.
You will be given a low dose of antibiotics for the first 3 days after your hair transplant to reduce the risk of infection.
This is not a normal course of antibiotics and the dose is very low. A total of 4 pills are taken.
