PRP increases the size of the hair follicle

PRP is the body’s own thrombocytes injected shallowly into the scalp. The thrombocytes are found in blood plasma and are growth factors that boost the hair follicle. When these growth factors are injected into the scalp, the hair follicle will grow stronger. If the hair follicle becomes stronger, it may start producing a stronger hair again and the hair may grow faster.

Since the hair follicle is genetically coded to shrink and produce a thinner hair, you must use PRP as maintenance in order to keep the results, much like with exercise. If you stop exercising, you eventually lose muscle mass. The same applies to PRP. If you stop feeding the hair follicle, it eventually reverts to its previous size, and then it continues shrinking, as it is genetically conditioned to do.

Number of treatments for the best result

In order to activate the hair growth using PRP, we recommend 3–4 treatments. If the hair has been thinning for some time, or if you have a hair condition, more treatments may be necessary.

At the start of your treatment, you must have treatments every 4 weeks. After that, it is enough if you have treatments every 6 months to maintain the result. After your first 3 PRP treatments, the growth factors continue working in the skin. That’s why you only need to have PRP treatments every six months after your first treatments.

FAQ on PRP treatments

What are the side effects of a PRP treatment?

The treatment is safe and natural as it is your own blood being used. There may be some redness that appears right after the treatment but it disappears within a couple of hours. You can go back to your everyday activities immediately after the treatment.

Does PRP treatment hurt?

There might be prickling and a feeling of slight discomfort during a PRP hair treatment, especially during the first treatment. As a general rule, however, the treatment is very simple and without discomfort. For a PRP skin treatment, you will receive numbing cream and should therefore experience very little discomfort.

When can I expect results of a PRP hair treatment?

We recommend doing 3-4 treatments with 4 weeks in between. After that, we do a follow up after an additional 2 to 3 months and by then the new, stronger hair will have had time to grow out.

Does one PRP treatment last you your whole life?

PRP is not a permanent solution. Losing hair is something most people do, and PRP helps slow it down and stimulate new growth. How efficient it is and how long it lasts varies from person to person since everyone has different conditions to begin with. In order to get a correct assessment of your hair, we recommend scheduling a free consultation.

How can I fund my PRP treatments?

We have a partnership with Medical Finance. There you can receive interest-free credits up to 50 000 and a payment plan of up to 24 months.
