For many years I have been thinking back and forth about this hair transplant and always had Nordic Hair Clinic in mind as it was my first hit on my google search.

When I finally made my move, I contacted Maggie for a consultation and visited the clinic for the first time in mid-September 2017. I decided to do a hair transplant using the FUE method and then a course of PRP treatments. I discussed my thoughts and ideas with Maggie and came to the conclusion that a hair transplant in Istanbul was a good option for me. When I told my family about my plans, it was clear that my mother wanted to come along to support me on my journey. The date of the transplant was booked and then I booked two flight seats to Istanbul.

On Sunday 19 November, we set off for Arlanda Airport and on to Istanbul. At Istanbul airport there was a man with a sign with our names on it. He showed us to our transport which took us to the hotel. After checking in at the fantastic hotel, it didn’t take long for the phone to ring in our room. A man on the other end of the phone greeted us and gave instructions about tomorrow.

Day 1

The day of surgery began with a shower. I had a hearty breakfast as instructed. At half past eight we and another Swedish couple were picked up by Roza, Erdem and Mats. Through the wild traffic that we are not used to, we made our way to the clinic.

At the clinic, I was directed to a room to be prepared for the transplant. Blood samples were taken, they shaved off my hair and then drew where my new hairline would be. Then the operation began, which continued throughout the day with a break for lunch.

When everything was ready, I was patched up and taken back to the hotel. Mom and I celebrated with a good dinner at the hotel restaurant. Then I was very tired and got into bed, which had been fixed with pillows so that I could sit up and sleep comfortably as one should do the first night.

Day 2

I woke up alert and hungry for breakfast. At 9:30 Roza, Mats and a nurse came to remove the bandage I had on the back of my head during the night. It was painless. I received further information about care advice and my medication. As we were going home so early on Day 3, Mum was given careful instructions on how to help me with the first hair wash that was supposed to take place at the clinic.

After this, the hotel reception helped us to book a taxi to the Hagia Sophia, which is now a museum. There we walked for a while and in the nice area around. Back to the hotel to rest for a while and then we were busy looking around the three big malls that were right next to the hotel.

I’m still amazed that I felt so good and had so much energy the day after the transplant. The only thing that really bothered me was the swelling on my forehead and above my eyes, but I already knew that. The swelling subsided after a few days. The day ended with local food and then I fell into bed.

Day 3

We were picked up at the hotel after breakfast and driven to the airport. Amazing how fast three days can go!

The time afterwards

It has now been three months since my procedure. I have done three out of three PRP treatments. I’m really super happy and impressed with all the logistics and incredibly nice treatment by everyone here at the clinic in Stockholm and in Istanbul.
