How long does a hair transplant take to heal?
After a hair transplant, you need both donation area (where the hair follicles are taken from) and the recipient area (where they are placed) heal.
Common moments in the healing process of a hair transplant are:
- Redness and slight swelling in the first few days.
- Small crusts that fall off within 1—2 weeks.
- A period in which the transplanted hair follicles usually temporarily release the hair shaft (“shedding”).
- New hairs growing.
Regardless of the method, it usually takes 6—12 months to see the final result. Difference between FUE and DHI can be noticeable in the first days immediately after transplantation.
Therefore, DHI is a gentle method that facilitates healing afterwards
At one Hair Transplant With DHI, a special pencil (choi-pen) is used, which makes it possible to place the hair follicle directly into the skin without first opening channels.
Benefits for the healing:
Less trauma pon the skin — minimal incision at implantation.- Shorter healing time — the smaller the wound in the skin, the faster the healing.
- Natural result — the hair follicles are placed with high precision in the right direction and depth.
Why does DHI provide better healing than FUE?
The difference between DHI and FUE is about how the hair follicles are implanted. In FUE, small incisions are created in the receiver area where the hair follicles are then placed. With DHI, a “Choi pen” is used instead, which allows the hair follicles to be implanted directly into the skin, without the need for incisions to be carried out first. It allows the implanted area to heal somewhat faster in the first few days after the transplant.
