From Your Own Scalp, to Your Own Scalp

Hair Loss Treatment Using Your Body’s Own Tissue

With hair loss, the hair follicles are usually still present, but they have become less active. With the Biograft method, we use a small piece of your own scalp to try to reactivate them.

How It Works

  • We take 2–3 small tissue samples, approximately 2.5 mm in size, from the side of the back of your head, behind the ear. This is done under local anaesthesia.
  • The tissue is mechanically processed into a solution containing your own cells and growth factors.
  • The solution is injected directly into the areas where your hair has thinned.

The entire treatment is completed in a single visit and takes approximately thirty minutes. No foreign substances are introduced, as everything comes from your own body.

What Can You Expect?

  • The aim is to support existing hair follicles so that the hair can grow thicker and appear fuller.
  • Studies show that a majority of patients, approximately two out of three, experience fuller or thicker hair after treatment. Improvement is gradual and becomes visible after three to six months.
  • Results vary from person to person, and not everyone responds to treatment. The effect is not permanent. Hereditary hair loss continues, and some patients need another treatment after one or a few years.

‍

Is This Treatment Right for You?

This treatment is suitable for people with hereditary hair loss who still have hair follicles in the thinning area. It may be an option if you do not want to or cannot use medication, or it can be combined with medication and PRP for the best possible effect. The treatment aims to slow hereditary hair loss and serves as a preventive measure for those who are not yet ready for a permanent treatment such as a hair transplant, which is used when hair follicles are no longer present.

The treatment rarely produces results in completely bald areas. A hair transplant may be a better option in these cases. During your consultation, we examine your scalp and recommend the most suitable treatment based on your individual circumstances.

Questions and Answers

How does the treatment work?

Micrograft Hair is a treatment for hereditary hair loss that uses a small amount of your own tissue. During the same visit, we take three small skin samples, approximately 2.5 mm in size, from the area behind your ear. The tissue is mechanically processed and then reintroduced into the areas where your hair has thinned. The entire treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

‍

Risks

As with any procedure, you may experience tenderness, redness, minor bruising, and in rare cases, infection. We will go through all of this before you make your decision.

What can you expect?

The purpose is to support existing hair follicles so that the hair can become thicker and appear denser. Improvement occurs gradually, and results vary between patients. We document your starting point with standardized photos and measurements and follow up on the results in the same way.

Who is this treatment for?

The treatment is most effective if you have hereditary hair loss or have lost hair for other reasons, provided that you still have hair follicles that have become weakened. Your individual circumstances will be evaluated and discussed with you during a consultation.
