How does the DHI method work?
DHI is a further developed variant of the FUE method (Follicular Unit Extraction) and is based on the same basic principle: individual hair follicles (grafts) are extracted from an area with a lot of hair (donor area) and placed in an area where more hair is desired (recipient area). The main difference lies in how the hair follicles are inserted into the skin.
While FUE requires that small incisions (channels) are first made in the area where the new hair follicles are to be placed, the DHI technique does not require any incisions before inserting the hair follicle. Instead, a special tool called the Choi-pen is used, which allows the new channel for the hair follicle to be made and placed at the same time.
- Minimizes trauma to the skin
- Shorter time for hair follicles outside the body
- Increased precision and control
- Potentially faster recovery time
The DHI method is particularly suitable for patients who want minor procedures, such as when they want to touch up or recreate their hairline.
