Hair transplantation with DHI (Direct Hair Implantation)

DHI, or Direct Hair Implantation, is a modern and gentle method of hair transplantation where each hair follicle is placed directly into the scalp without first opening channels in the skin. The technique makes it possible to achieve very precise and natural results – especially in sensitive areas such as the hairline. Perfect for those who suffer from hair loss and want more hair growth. At Nordic Hair Clinic, we offer the DHI method performed by experienced specialists with a focus on performing hair transplants with quality, safety and long-term results.

How does the DHI method work?

DHI is a further developed variant of the FUE method (Follicular Unit Extraction) and is based on the same basic principle: individual hair follicles (grafts) are extracted from an area with a lot of hair (donor area) and placed in an area where more hair is desired (recipient area). The main difference lies in how the hair follicles are inserted into the skin.

While FUE requires that small incisions (channels) are first made in the area where the new hair follicles are to be placed, the DHI technique does not require any incisions before inserting the hair follicle. Instead, a special tool called the Choi-pen is used, which allows the new channel for the hair follicle to be made and placed at the same time.

  • Minimizes trauma to the skin
  • Shorter time for hair follicles outside the body
  • Increased precision and control
  • Potentially faster recovery time

The DHI method is particularly suitable for patients who want minor procedures, such as when they want to touch up or recreate their hairline.

Why DHI?

What are the benefits of a DHI hair transplant?

Hair transplantation using the DHI method offers several advantages:

  • Position the hair follicles and open up channels at the same time: Since no channels need to be opened in advance, the procedure is minimized and the skin is exposed to less stress.
  • Minimal scarring: Just like with the FUE method, scarring is very minimal.
  • Minimal recovery time: The reduced impact on the skin can lead to faster recovery.
  • No shaving required: For minor procedures, you can keep the rest of your hair unshaven.

The DHI method is a good option for those who want to undergo a hair transplant with minimal trauma to the skin, shorter recovery time and achieve an aesthetically pleasing result.

DHI vs FUE

What is the difference between the DHI and FUE methods?

When it comes to FUE and DHI, it’s mainly about how the hair follicles are inserted. Both are the most advanced methods on the market, but there are both advantages and disadvantages to both techniques.

  • Implantation: FUE uses pre-created incisions, DHI places the hair follicles directly with the Choi pen.
  • Shaving: FUE often requires shaving, DHI can sometimes be done without shaving.
  • Healing: Both have short recovery times, DHI can sometimes provide even faster healing.
  • Areas: FUE is suitable for larger areas, DHI is best for details such as the hairline.
  • Scarring: Minimal with both FUE and DHI.
  • Surgery time: FUE is usually faster than DHI.
  • Price: FUE is usually cheaper than DHI due to less tooling and time required.

Both FUE and DHI provide natural and lasting results, but the choice for your particular transplant depends on your goals, your circumstances and personal preferences. In the consultation, we will help you choose the right method.

Market price

The price of DHI depends on how many grafts (hair follicles) need to be transplanted. Since the DHI method requires more time and resources than the FUE method, the cost is slightly higher.

*The price always includes consultation, planning, the procedure, 4 PRP treatments, follow-up checks and access to our support throughout the recovery period.
