Step 1
Konsultation
A hair transplant always starts with a free consultation where we go through your personal circumstances.
In a hair transplant, hair is moved from an area that is rich in hair to an area where increased hair growth is desired. The transplanted hair follicles grow firmly within 24 hours and immediately start producing naturally growing hair.
The hair transplant is always performed under local anaesthetic and the technique used by almost all clinics is called FUE, which you can read more about below.
Are you curious about a hair transplant? During one of our free consultations, we’ll examine your hair follicles, discuss your conditions and decide together what your next step should be.
Book a free consultationStep 1
A hair transplant always starts with a free consultation where we go through your personal circumstances.
Step 2
On hair transplant day, it’s important to start the day with a solid meal so that you have plenty of energy for the procedure.
We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes and a blouse or shirt so that you don’t have to wear anything over your head when the procedure is finished.
When you arrive at the clinic, you will be changed into a surgical gown. Then we go through the different parts of the procedure together.
Step 3
A drawing is made around the transplant area. You will now see where your new hairlinewill sit.
Should you wish to make any adjustments to the shape or placement, we’ll talk through those decisions calmly.
You always have the final say when it comes to the look of your new hairline.
Step 4
The next step is to prepare the donation area. It is from this area that your hair follicles will be plucked.
The area is marked out and shaved. Many people choose to shave their entire head, depending on the size of the donation area and how long your hair is.
However, we would like you to come to the clinic unshaven on the day of your hair transplant so that we can see how your hair is growing.
Step 5
You will lie face down on the treatment bed. Local anaesthetic is then injected into the donation area.
This step may hurt a little. But after that, the procedure is completely painless.
Step 6
In order to extract the hair follicle groups, we drill them out, one by one. Each graftis then picked out of the donation area with forceps.
Grafts with different numbers of hair follicles are taken out to give you as natural a result as possible.
Step 7
Once all the grafts have been removed from the donation area, you will be turned over and given local anaesthetic in the transplant area.
Small channels are then created in the transplant area in a slightly irregular pattern to make the hair mimic your natural hair as closely as possible.
This is the most difficult part of a hair transplant. It requires a lot of knowledge, accuracy and good technique. This part is crucial for the outcome.
Step 8
Vaseline is applied to the donation area to create an extra layer of protection against dirt. In the donor area, the wounds are larger than in the newly transplanted area, where only small incisions have been made.
Bandages are applied over the donation area to remain in place for 24 hours. The newly transplanted area is not bandaged because it is a very sensitive area and must heal undisturbed.
Step 9
Once your hair transplant is complete, we will go through aftercare and medicationwith you. You’ll find out how to wash your hair, when to start wearing a hat again and what to think about when it comes to exercise and alcohol.
We also time follow-up with PRP as part of your aftercare to speed up the healing process.
The FUE technique
In FUE (Follicular Unit Excision), a microdrill is used to loosen the hair follicles in the donor area.
The hair follicles are then picked out with a small pair of tweezers. When everything heals, there will be no marks or scars left, either in the area from which the hair follicles were taken or in the area to which the hair follicles were transplanted.
We always work with the FUE technique at Nordic Hair Clinic. The transplants are administered and performed by our hair technicians.
DHI
DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is an advanced technology for hair transplantation that is based on hair follicles being extracted and implanted directly in the receiving area without the need for pre-made channels. The hair follicles are individually taken from the donor area, usually the back of the head, and then placed using a special implantation pen called a Choi pen. This pen allows the staff to place the hair follicles with great precision in terms of depth, angle and direction, giving a natural and aesthetically pleasing result.
One of the main benefits of DHI is that it reduces trauma to the scalp and leads to faster recovery. However, the technique is more time-consuming and expensive than traditional methods such as FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
