PRP is an injection treatment to slow hair loss and make hair grow better. PRP is also used to stimulate cell renewal, collagen production and improve skin's radiance and elasticity.

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, or platelet-rich plasma in Swedish. Treatment is carried out by taking a simple blood sample in the fold of the arm. The blood is then centrifuged to be separated, the platelet-rich plasma is used and then injected superficially into the skin with a thin needle. It stimulates hair growth, cell renewal, collagen production and improves skin radiance and elasticity. The result comes gradually and is usually noticeable after 2-3 treatments.

There are several methods of skin rejuvenation that can give similar results. In addition to PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), microneedling, skinboosters with hyaluronic acid, laser treatments and chemical peels are also used. The difference is that PRP uses your own blood plasma, which means it is completely natural and has a very low risk of allergic reactions.

One treatment takes about 20-30 minutes and it is good to return to work and normal activities immediately afterwards. PRP is a unique treatment method and there is no proven and equivalent treatment on the market today.

Significant risks and consequences of PRP treatment

The treatment is gentle and there are no significant risks associated with the treatment. One can feel slight discomfort from the needle stick during blood tests and injections, but it is quickly transient.

After treatment, some patients may experience tension headaches, some redness of the scalp and, in very rare cases, swollen lymph nodes in the neck. You may get a small bruise in your arm fold from blood sampling. All side effects are mild and transient.

For most patients, we recommend a course of three treatments about four weeks apart, but this is individual. The result is usually noticeable gradually and usually becomes clear after the entire course of treatment has been completed.

You should avoid makeup, sauna, exercise and sun for at least 24 hours after treatment. Avoid touching the face or squeezing the area to reduce the risk of infection.

The cost of treatment depends on the size of the treatment area and the number of treatment sessions. Of course, we always provide information about the price of treatment when you book a PRP treatment with us.

If you experience that a treatment with us has led to complications, you can always contact our clinic manager Mats Stolt at mats@nordichair.com or telephone 08- 20 00 18.

Modern technology and safe technology

Nordic Hair Clinic is affiliated to the Swedish Inspectorate for Care and Care (IVO) and has a full patient insurance policy. We have extensive experience in the industry and with each treatment we do our utmost to ensure that you get the result you want. Below you can read more about our treatments and procedures.

In the case of a hair transplant, we move hair follicles (usually from the neck) to an area where the client wants denser hair growth. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and normally takes between 3-5h depending on the size of the procedure. The treatment method used in hair transplants is called FUE (Follicle Unit Excision).

The procedure is carried out in three stages:

  • First, we extract the hair follicles with a microscopic drill
  • Then we make small incisions in the skin where the hair follicles will be located
  • Last, we place the hair follicles in the new area

This is a very gentle method of conducting a hair transplant. The alternative method available is called FUT. In such a treatment, a strip of skin is cut out of the neck and hair follicles are extracted from the strip. This treatment is more invasive and leaves a long scar on the neck. We have therefore chosen to work solely with FUE.

The result of treatment is permanent. The cost of a hair transplant varies depending on the size of the area being treated. Of course, we always provide information about the cost of your treatment when you book a hair transplant with us.

Pharmaceuticals

The procedure is done under local anesthesia and you are also given drugs to reduce bleeding. After treatment, you will be given medicine to reduce the risk of infection as well as medicine that reduces swelling.
Here is a complete list of which drugs are used during and after surgery:

During surgery:

  • Xylocaine
  • Maracín
  • adrenalin

For aftercare at home:

  • Betapred
  • Dalacin
  • Ibuprofen

If you experience that a treatment with us has led to complications, you can always contact our clinic manager Mats Stolt at mats@nordichair.com or telephone 08- 20 00 18.

Significant Risks and Consequences of Hair Transplantation

There are no known serious risks or penalties associated with a hair transplant. The side effects and inconveniences associated with the procedure are as follows:

During the procedure:

The following inconveniences may occur in connection with the procedure:

  • Heart palpitations as a result of treatment with adrenaline. Goes over after a few minutes.
  • The local anesthetic may bring some discomfort, which is transient.

After the procedure

In most cases, the skin heals without problems after the procedure. Possible complications in the vast majority of cases are mild and quickly transient, for example:

  • Immediately after a hair transplant, one may feel easily carried away, a little dizzy and tired.
  • You can feel swollen in your head and it can tense up a bit — like wearing a helmet. This feeling disappears within a day.
  • In the treated area, itching, soreness and redness may temporarily occur. The redness usually lasts for a couple of weeks, but in exceptional cases it can last for a month.
  • One will get small scabs on the parts where we place the hair follicles. These scabs normally disappear within 10 days.

  • It is not uncommon for some loss of sensation in the transplanted area — this is transient within a few weeks or a few weeks.
  • Sometimes single hairs can grow inward, producing acne-like rashes. This is transitory.
  • Swelling may occur after treatment. In some cases, it can travel down over the forehead and nasal bones. It does not hurt and is not dangerous, but can look a little funny and disappear after a couple of days.
  • In the neck where we use FUE technology to pick out the hair follicles, small marks can form where the hair follicle has sat. These small scars are usually not a problem as they are barely visible, but may appear a little more when shaving the hair.
  • Hair loss can occur temporarily after about 3-6 weeks, when the hair follicle releases the hair shaft, but then the hair grows back.
  • The risk of an infection in the transplanted area is very small, but you will receive antibiotics from us for preventive purposes.
  • In rare cases, the new growing hair may be more frizzy/brushy than the rest of the hair. This change is normally transient but can sit for up to a year. You may experience difficulty sleeping the first few days as you should be extra careful not to bump into the newly transplanted hair and thus damage the hair follicles.
