against hair loss

Dermaroller

A dermaroller is a skin care tool with many small needles placed on a roller. When the roller is passed over the skin, microscopic punctures are created that stimulate the skin's natural healing process. This increases the production of collagen and elastin, which can improve the structure of the skin, reduce scars and provide a more rejuvenated skin.

Why dermaroller?

Is dermaroller good for the hair?

In short, it is a needle roller that stimulates the skin's natural healing processes. It consists of a roller head with small, thin needles that gently penetrate the skin when rolling it over, for example, the scalp. This creates small lesions in the skin that increase blood circulation and activate the body's growth factors. In other words, the amount of growth factors in the area used by the roller increases, which allows existing and latent hair follicles to receive more nutrition and can both grow stronger and also be brought back to life.

Needle rollers can also be used in skin care to increase collagen and elastin which can reduce fine lines and wrinkles. But, there is a difference from using it on the scalp.

Use of dermaroller for increased hair growth

A simple guide to use

Using a roller for hair requires both caution and the right technique.

  • Clean the dermaroller: Flush in warm water before and after each use to remove bacteria.
  • Prepare the scalp: Make sure the scalp is clean and the hair is dry.
  • Apply the correct pressure: Use gentle pressure, it should not bleed.
  • Direction of treatment: Scroll with a light pressure over the area you want to treat—first vertically, then horizontally, and finally diagonally. Perform 4—5 strokes in each direction.
  • Aftercare: Avoid washing your hair immediately after use and preferably wait a few hours.

How often to use the hair roller

Many people wonder how often to run dermaroller? It varies from person to person, but it is generally recommended to use 3-4 times a week, i.e. every two to three days.

The right needle depth is crucial

It is important to have the correct length of the needles, if you have too long needles you risk doing damage, but if you have too short they will not reach the scalp.

  • 1.0mm: For those with thick hair — the needles reach through the hair down to the scalp.
  • 0.5mm: For those with thinner hair — stimulates without irritating your skin.
  • 0.3mm: For bald spots or sensitive scalp

Combine PRP and Minoxidil with your roller

Does a dermaroller really make hair grow out? The answer is yes, in many cases it can absolutely lead to improvement against hair loss. Especially when used in conjunction with complementary treatments. When the needles roll over the skin, microscopic channels are created that temporarily open up the scalp. This improves the absorption of active substances and provides nutrients as well as treatments a direct route down to the hair follicles.

Two common combinations

  • PRP treatment — adds the body's own growth factors which, after dermarolling, reach the hair follicles more easily and can improve both the quality and density of the hair.
  • Minoxidil — a well-proven remedy for thinning hair that is more effectively absorbed after rolling and stimulates blood circulation in the scalp.

Dermaroller for beard

Using a roller for increased beard growth works in the same way as for the scalp. By creating tiny microscopic holes in the skin, blood flow is stimulated and the body's natural growth factors are activated in the hair follicles of the beard. It can help bring dormant hair follicles to life, causing more hairs to begin to grow and the density of the beard to gradually improve. The result is often a fuller, smoother and more well-groomed beard.

Tips for beard treatment

  • Use needles of 0.3—0.5 mm — suitable for the thinner skin of the face.
  • Scroll carefully — over the cheeks, chin, jawline and the area around the mouth, avoid too much pressure.
  • Repeat treatment 2-3 times a week — with at least one rest day between times to give the skin time to heal.
