PRP Skin Treatment
How our skin ages is affected partly by genes and environmental factors, but with time the skin’s natural production of collagen and cell turnover rate weakens. This results in wrinkles and the skin looses some of its natural brightness. With PRP skin treatment, also known as the vampire facial, we can stimulate the body’s production of collagen and cell turnover rate.
How PRP skin treatment works
Face, neck, hands and décolletage (chest area) are the areas that are constantly subjected to external stresses and UV-rays from the sun. PRP skin treatment works on both men and women to improve the skin in these areas. With PRP treatment, we extract plasma containing growth factors from your own blood. The plasma is then injected into the areas in need of healing and stimulation.
It is very difficult to collect all growth factors out of the plasma, but we have several years of experience within PRP at Nordic Hair and have performed 15 000 procedures with great success. We have created and refined our own technology to give our clients the absolute best results.
Different areas are treated differently by protocol. We take into consideration that all people are different and therefore the amount of injections may differ from person to person, depending on the needs of that person. Generally, the blood plasma is injected in an even layer under the skin’s surface.
Results after plasma treatment
The plasma containing growth factors is often yellow and is evenly injected into the skin. The results are never asymmetrical or lumpy as they can be with fillers. The skin will, a week from the day of the treatment, be brighter and have more glow. The skin will also have tightened up and shallow wrinkles will be plumped out.
Wrinkles occur because collagen and elastin production decreases and the skin creases. If the creases or wrinkles are lighter, PRP will produce enough collagen to plump up or fill the crease. If the wrinkle is deeper, PRP can improve, but not completely restore smoothness.
The lines in the face get softer and the skin will have more glow. It takes a month for the body to produce more collagen, but the skin gets brighter relatively quickly and is something everybody experiences.

Frequently asked questions about PRP skin treatment
What are the side effects of a PRP treatment?
The treatment is safe and natural as it is your own blood being used. There may be some redness that appears right after the treatment but it disappears within a couple of hours. You can go back to your everyday activities immediately after the treatment.
How much blood is drawn during a treatment?
Usually, we extract approximately 24 ml of blood during a session. The amount of blood we extract might depend on how large of a surface is to be treated. This is in order to offer as good and effective treatment as possible.
Can I wear makeup before a PRP skin treatment?
When receiving the treatment, a numbing salve will be applied to the face which means the makeup will be automatically removed along with the salve. The face is also disinfected in order to kill bacteria and reduce the risk of eventual infection.
How will I look directly after my treatment?
It is very individual. Some people don’t notice a difference at all while others may experience a slight redness, but this redness usually calms down throughout the rest of the day. You will be able to carry out your usual day-to-day activities immediately after the treatment.
What should I think about after the treatment?
A slight redness might present itself immediately after the treatment. The redness usually disappears within a couple of hours. In the meantime, we recommend that you avoid wearing makeup in order to not irritate the skin. Besides that, you can return to your ordinary activities immediately after the treatment.
How fast can I see the results of a PRP skin treatment?
How quickly you can see results vary from person to person. Some see a difference only hours after the treatment, while others see results after a few days or need more than one session to see the full results.
