The brothers went to Istanbul together for hair transplants
Selim, 22, Muslim, 25, Albert, 30, Hjalmar, 29
The three brothers, Selim, 22, Muslim, 25, and Albert, 30, traveled to Nordic Hair Clinic’s own clinic in Istanbul together with their colleague and friend Hjalmar, 29, to all get hair transplants. Baldness ran in the family and, after years of trying to cover up the baldness in various ways, they discussed doing something about it and filling in the hair. Albert planned the trip.
“I haven’t lost as much hair as my brothers. I’ve mostly lost hair on the crown and it’s been on my mind more and more over the last couple of years. I’d talked a lot about it with my brothers over the years, but it never came to fruition. Then I managed to take charge and book an appointment with Maggie,” Albert recounts.
His brother, Muslim, had started losing hair as a young man and knew it would get worse with age since it ran in the family. He tried different products before deciding to have a hair transplant.
“I knew at a young age that I would lose my hair, you only have to look at the men in my family, especially on my dad’s side. So it’s always been in the back of my mind and I’ve thought that something must be able to be done about it. I’ve tried the shampoo and the usual stuff, but it’s never worked a hundred percent,” Muslim says.
Planning hair transplants on 4 people
When Albert’s friend had a hair transplant, and he could see for himself how the hair looked once it grew out, it motivated him to take charge of his own problem. At the same time, he attempted to get his brothers and Hjalmar to go on the trip with him.
“We planned for months before so it would coincide with the Christmas holidays so everyone could come. Going to Turkey was a given. On the one hand, the price is better, but you can also have a guy’s trip at the same time. So I talked it over with my brothers and Hjalmar and we went,” Albert says.
Albert found Nordic Hair Clinic via Google. He read up on what it means to get a hair transplant and read reviews from people who had gotten hair transplants from Nordic Hair Clinic.
“What drew us in the most was that you had your own clinic in Turkey. So it felt like we had the procedure done in Sweden, but got a trip to Turkey along with it,” Albert says.

The trip to Istanbul, the hotel and the clinic
They went to Istanbul together. A mix of nervousness, expectation, and calm settled over the group. The fact that they went together and that they would all have the same operation made it possible for them to motivate and support one another.
“I felt calm during the trip,” Selim says about the trip down to Istanbul. “I was mostly just nervous about having to shave my hair. I’d never had such short hair before. I didn’t know how I would look. But it actually turned out better than I’d thought.”
They landed in Istanbul where they were greeted by a driver who took them to the hotel.
“It was a good hotel. The hotel check-in was already handled. Then the clinic is in the same building, 5 minutes away. It was a good clinic, you immediately felt it was serious and safe. It was a great overall feeling and they were friendly there, too. It felt good,” Hjalmar says about his experience in Istanbul.

The hair transplants went smoother than any of the brothers or Hjalmar had expected.
“The day I had the hair transplant, I felt pretty sore and tired, so we didn’t get up to much then. The following day, everyone felt much better, so we walked around Istanbul, ate in restaurants, and we went to a gaming hall. It was nice,” Selim says.
“The fact that we were a group who went down together made it easier on everyone. We motivated and were there for one another. Plus, you have mutual support. It’s still an operation. It makes it easier for you to be able to talk to someone who’s also gone through it,” Muslim says.
Healing of the skin and the hair follicles after a hair transplant
The body immediately starts to heal the donor site and the transplant area. New capillaries are created so that the new hair follicles will be able to take root. It is, however, crucial that the aftercare is managed as well as possible. Regular showering of the transplant area is important in order to keep the area clean and to help the scabs to fall off. The outgrowth of the new hair, however, is time-consuming and patience is required as it takes a while before you see any results. PRP accelerates the healing process.
“After 2 weeks, all the scabs have fallen off and you can see a pretty clear result in the first weeks after. You can tell that you’ve received a new hairline, that there are hair follicles in a place where there hasn’t been any before. But then a lot falls out to regrow again. The neck has healed now, and you can barely tell hair follicles have been extracted from there,” Hjalmar says about his healing process so far.
“Patience is key after a hair transplant. It’s a time-consuming process. You will lose hair and then it’ll grow back again. It’s a normal part of the healing process,” Muslim says.

Aftertreatment with PRP
After a hair transplant in Istanbul, a PRP treatment is included in the price. The PRP treatment is then performed in Sweden. PRP treatment means extracting blood plasma from your own blood. The blood plasma contains growth factors that are then injected into the scalp to support the healing of the transplant area. When the healing process is supported, this also boosts the hair growth for the new hair.
“It was pretty painful to get the anesthetic shots before the hair transplant, so I was worried that the PRP would be as painful. But it isn’t. I don’t feel a thing,” Hjalmar says.
Tips for a hair transplant in Istanbul from the brothers and Hjalmar
The brothers would recommend others who are considering getting a hair transplant at Nordic Hair Clinic’s own clinic in Istanbul to travel there together with someone else. In their case, they all had hair transplants at the same time, so they were able to support one another before and after the trip.
“I recommend going there with someone because then you’ll have someone to share the experience with. For me, it was nice that the people I traveled there with also had hair transplants, so you have someone to talk to about the procedure itself and you can check in on how it’s going and stuff. That way the whole thing is more enjoyable than if you go there by yourself,” Hjalmar says.

Muslim’s tip for those who consider having a hair transplant is to do the research.
“Do as much research as you can before your hair transplant and do what’s right for you. It’s important to go to a consultation so you actually see someone and you can discuss your hair loss and what your options are,” Muslim says.
Now that the hair transplant is completed, they all look forward to filling in the hair in places where they were balding before.
“I look forward to being able to fix up my hair again. I often fly drones, and before, flying over my own head, you could see that I was balding at the crown. It didn’t look good. But now when I’ll fly over, I’ll have hair at the crown,” Albert says.
