8 most commonly asked questions before a hair transplant
Having a hair transplant is a life changing event in one’s life, life changing for your self esteem but also financially. Therefore, it is important to get all your questions answered about the procedure and which results you can get after your hair transplant. You are welcome to come to a free consultation at Nordic Hair Clinic where we will examine your hair and go through what results are realistic in your case. But until then, we have collected the 8 most commonly asked questions from our patients.
1. How much does it cost?
If you have your hair transplant at any of our clinics in Sweden, you pay per graft. How many grafts that need to be extracted from you personally is hard to say without first examining your donor area on the back of your neck and the transplantation area. If you choose to have a hair transplant at our clinic in Istanbul, you get a packaged price of 25 000kr no matter how many grafts need to be extracted from your donor area.
At our clinics in Sweden, 3 PRP treatments are included in the price after your hair transplant and in Istanbul one PRP treatment is included at one of our clinics in Sweden. PRP stimulates the healing process after a hair transplant and encourages hair growth.
The hair technician drills around each graft before it is taken out with tweezers.
2. How many grafts will I need?
The best way to find out how many grafts will be needed from your donor area is to book a consultation with us. It is hard to say without first examining your donor area since it differs largely from person to person. All consultations are free at Nordic Hair Clinic.

3. Does a hair transplant hurt?
Most of our patients say that the only thing that hurts during a hair transplant is getting the anaesthetics in the beginning. As soon as the local anaesthesia starts working, you can’t feel the rest of the operation. The healing process can be a little hard in the beginning. You need to treat the newly transplanted area carefully so that it does not touch anything. You will need to sleep in a sitting position the first few nights which can feel uncomfortable for many people.
4. Will I get any scars from the transplant?
With the FUE method, there won’t be any scars if the procedure is done correctly. Our hair technicians are very skilled with many years of experience. We always work towards a natural end result for our patients. When we extract grafts from the donor area we do so with enough space in between the follicles so that any signs of you having undergone a hair transplant are minimal.
Here you can see the results from a patient’s donor area when his hair has grown out after his hair transplant.
5. How long does it take before I see any results?
It takes a while to see the end results of a hair transplant. First, the hair follicles need to grow steady and new capillaries must be formed before the follicle can start producing hair. The hair starts to grow relatively fast after a hair transplant, but after a certain amount of time, the hair follicle can let go of the hair that was transplanted into the scalp. This is a normal part of the healing process. The hair follicle is still be in place under the skin. Eventually, a new hair will start to grow out of the follicle. By nature, hair doesn’t grow at exactly the same rate. Some hair follicles will start growing a hair faster than others. It is therefore hard to say exactly when a person can see results of their hair transplant, but the general rule is that after 12 months you will see the end result.
6. Will it be obvious that I have had a hair transplant?
How natural your end result will look depends on which clinic you go to and who performs your hair transplant. Our hair technicians are among the best in the world and have great technical knowledge in order to give you the best results for your hair. Most of our patients get very natural results and it is what we always strive for.

7. Are the results permanent?
The hair in the back of the neck is genetically coded not to fall off. When you move a hair follicle from the back of the neck to another area, the hair that has been moved will still have the same qualities as the rest of the hair on the back of the neck. It will not fall off once it has grown into the newly transplanted area.
8. How do you choose the right clinic?
The big question. How do you choose the clinic that is right for you specifically? There are many medical hair clinics around the world and you are the only person who can decide which is the best fit for you. Our tips are to do as much research as you can beforehand. Go to a consultation to get a feel for the clinic and to get your questions answered. Have your hair examined so that you get a clear picture of what is possible in your case and what results you can expect. Think about it, compare before and after pictures and go to the clinic that gives you the best gut feeling.
